How the ads on Gate & Globe are chosen, and what they know about you.
A few advertisers, all month
Gate & Globe has three ad spots. Each goes to one advertiser for a whole calendar month, the highest bidder in that month's auction, so you see at most three advertisers in a month. The first spot is shown 75% of the time, the second 15% and the third 10%. A game screen changes its ad at most once a minute.
That is on purpose. Three advertisers who stay all month are ones you can get to know: players, alliances, virtual airlines, fan sites, communities and businesses who want to reach people who play. You are not shown thousands of low-quality ads rotating past.
Not chosen for you
Every ad is shown to everyone. Which of the three you see is picked at random by those shares, not from your account, your airline, where you are or what you have done on the site. There is no profile of you behind it.
Reviewed before it runs
The team reviews every ad against the advertising guidelines before it can run, and stops one that breaks them. Ads are a title, a description, an image and a link. The image is served by Gate & Globe, and no advertiser's scripts, tracking pixels or other code run on the site. If an ad looks wrong, report it with its title and the page where you saw it.
No ad networks, and your information isn't sold
Gate & Globe does not use Google AdSense or any other ad network, and does not sell your information to anyone. When it shows an ad, it records which ad was served and whether it was viewed or clicked, but not who saw it. Advertisers see only those totals. Clicking an ad opens the advertiser's site, whose own privacy practices apply.
The only thing Google Ads hears from the site is about Gate & Globe's own ads on Google: if you arrived by clicking one, it is told, by that click's identifier alone, when your account was made and when it founded its first airline. Privacy has the details.
Fewer ads, or your own
